Indoor Track & Field: Titans Compete at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Westminster College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed in the Dan Kinsey Invitational hosted by Oberlin College on Friday.

Titan junior Nick Fiorentino (Franklin, PA / Franklin) placed first in the weight throw as he set a new personal-record of 13.78 meters, over a meter farther than his previous best.

The Titan men's team also won a pair of relays. The 4x200 relay team, consisting of junior Colton Miller (Mc Donald, PA / South Fayette), junior Michael Mikita (Rural Valley, PA / West Shamokin), senior Christian Friday (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park), and junior Jake Dindak (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin), won with a time of 1:38.50. The 4x400 relay team, consisting of freshman Dominick Schrecengost (Avonmore, PA / Apollo-Ridge), sophomore John-Scott Somora (Grove City, PA / Grove City), freshman Josh McFall (New Castle, PA / New Castle), and sophomore Neil Christopher (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood), crossed the finish line with a first-place time of 4:08.66.

Schrecengost also placed first in the triple jump with a leap of 10.88 meters.

Additionally, Mikita placed second in the 60-meter dash (7.45), while sophomore Scott Hughes (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) notched a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (24.10).

For the Titan women's team, sophomore Keilah Ireland (Nashua, NH / Nashua North) won the high jump with a mark of 1.47 meters. First-year Katelynn Morrell (Boardman, OH / Boardman) placed second in the 1-mile run (5:35.00). The 4x400 meter relay team also placed second at 5:00.05. The quartet included junior Caitlin Yakopin (Washington, PA / Washington), junior Marissa Toensing (Newton Falls, OH / Newton Falls), sophomore Hayley Thewes (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside), and junior Alicia Nuzzo (New Castle, PA / Neshannock).

The Titans are back in action Friday, January 23 when they compete in the Youngstown State University Invitational.
