Comments
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Senior Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) and freshman Jametrius Bentley (Lake Worth, FL / Park Vista Community) broke two school records as the Westminster College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Youngstown State University Invitational at the Watson and Tressel Training Site on Friday. The event, which included Division I, II and III schools was a non-team scoring event.

Thomas shattered his own school record in the long jump that he set in last year's Indoor Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships. On Friday, Thomas won the long jump with a leap of 7.10 meters (23'3.50'), breaking his previous mark of 6.78 meters.

Bentley placed 19th in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 7.26, breaking J.J. Faltot's record of 7.30 set in 2012.

Junior Nick Fiorentino (Franklin, PA / Franklin), who broke the school record in the weight throw two weeks ago at Oberlin College, earned a top-10 finish in the shot put with a toss of 13.76 meters (45'1.75'). He also placed 20th in the weight throw (12.97m/42'6.75').

Junior Andrew Brannen (Pittsburgh, PA / Peters Township) tied his indoor personal best in the pole vault with a seventh-place mark of 4.30 meters (14'1.25'). Sophomore Scott Hughes (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) placed 29th in the 200 (23.97).

For the women's team, sophomore Cassidy Shepherd (Greensburg, PA / Salem) placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.65 meters (11'11.75).

Senior Alaura Hanssen (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington) added almost two meters to her personal record (PR) in the weight throw with a toss of 11.78 meters (38'7.75') for 23rd place. She also PR'd (for indoor) in the shot put with a 19th-place mark of 10.66 meters (34'11.75').

First-year Katelynn Morrell (Boardman, OH / Boardman) placed 23rd in the 1-mile run (5:41.62), while sophomore Alicia Nuzzo (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) placed 24th in the 400 (1:02.38).

Westminster will next compete in the two-day SPIRE Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio, starting on Friday, January 30.
